Bourbon Vs. Sctoch – What would you prefer?

A lot of people often find time to discuss which spirit is better – Bourbon or Scotch. Scotch which is normally made in hills of Scotland is a distilled beverage which is made up of grains.

On the other hand, Bourbon is an American drink which is a barrel-aged distilled liquor made from corn. Scotch, on the other hand is a whisky that is made in Scotland.

To be called Scotch whisky the spirit must conform to the standards of the Scotch Whisky Order of 1990 (UK). On the other hand, The U.S. government has laid several standards which a spirit must conform to, in order to be called as Bourbon.  And in 1964, the U.S. Congress recognized Bourbon Whiskey as a “distinctive product of the United States”.

But the question remains, which drink, scotch or good bourbon is better?

There are a lot of advocators of bourbon, who consider bourbon as a better drink than scotch. They give the following reasons for the same:

1.        Bourbon is smoother.

2.       It is available at much reasonable prices

3.       It tastes better than scotch.

4.       It is much intense and strong than scotch.

5.       Bourbon is a more manly drink and is much stronger than scotch.

6.       They say that scotch looks like urine whereas the color of bourbon is more intense and dark.

On the other hand, there are a lot of scotch fans who think that scotch is a hand down winner, when you compare it with a drink like Bourbon. They give the following reasons for that:

1.       Scotch is much more superior to a drink like Bourbon.

2.       Scotch has a Smokey quality to it which is not present in case of bourbon, as it doesn’t have this quality.

3.       Some people find bourbon too sweet to drink. They find scotch as a balanced drink which they find better than bourbon.

4.       Scotch has much more variety than Bourbon.

5.       Drinking scotch makes you feel so special. If you don’t believe them, you should have a sip of single malt and you will know what they are saying.

So, as you can see, followers of both the types of liquor have their own things to say. Actually, they love both scotch and heaven hill bourbon, and just because both these liquor belongs to different regions of the world, they are biased towards their particular regions. Anyhow, I personally love both scotch and bourbon as both are for different occasions and moods.
